Saleh Masharqah

Saleh Masharqa is a lecturer of media at Birzeit University, a journalist and permanent columnist for the Ultra-Palestine website. Currently he works as a coordinator for the Research and Policy Unit of the Media Development Center. He supervised in this unit the issuance of a series of applied researches in the media, amounting to 18 researches, which the center published on paper and electronically between the years 2014-2018. Within the National Initiative for Media Development, he worked as coordinator of the academic development component for teaching journalism and media in local universities and colleges. Through this component, the MDC succeeded in producing three courses, media and gender, media and law, and media ethics in the years 2015-2019. Currently, he is supervising the production and editing of two new courses in the same component: economic journalism and cultural journalism, in cooperation with partners from 16 universities and four colleges that teaches Bachelor and diploma in media. He also serves as the academic supervisor for Birzeit Diploma in Digital Media in its first iteration (2019-2020). He is a permanent trainer in news writing, media and gender, and multimedia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Media from Moscow (1995), and a Master of Gender Studies from Birzeit (2011). Specialized interests include media ethics, editorial policies and self-regulation, digital diplomacy, media education, transformation to digital media.

Fares Al Malky

Fares Al-Maliki, director of the news department at Watan Media Network. I joined Watan in 2006, a year after graduating from Birzeit University in the field of radio and television. I started working in Watan as a field reporter to cover the news, and then took over the duties of the “Editorial Secretary” in the News Department, and about a year and a half ago; I became director of the News Department. Besides my work in the news department, I have produced many investigative reports, and some of them are listed below: – Investigative report for “Wattan” and Areej Network: Arrested under the governor custody are victims of circumvention of the law – A investigative report for “Wattan”: Medical errors … investigation committees without standards and absent legal texts – For fear of being linked to terrorism … some banks are closing accounts for individuals, associations and civil society organizations – In an investigative report for Wattan “The brokers of the land and the homeland … without punishment ” – In an investigative report for Wattan “apartments not for sale… the collapse of the dream” In addition to my work at “Wattan”, I worked and is still working as a correspondent for the Lebanese satellite channel “LBCI”, a news correspondent in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem. During my years of experience in the media field, I participated in trainings and practical courses in different countries. I participated in a media-training program with the US State Department, and another one in Egypt and Jordan. I also participated with the Geneva Center for the Control of the Armed Forces in a training course in Spain on how Media should deal with complaints related to the performance of official institutions.

Mohammad Al Sheikh

He is Manasbar Paltform Cheif Editor. A Palestinianh journalist and blogger, born in Gaza City. He holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. He has worked in a number of civil society organizations in Palestine, and in the field of developing social media platforms in addition to managing and editing content. Interested in politics, technology and arts.

Rawan Damen

Rawan Damen – Executive Director of “Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism” ARIJ. Head of International Initiative Palestine Ambassador. Filmmaker and Media consultant. Rawan Damen has over 20 years of experience in media coaching and management; in addition to TV and digital production career. She produced and directed more than 30 hours of TV documentaries and investigations, translated to multiple languages, including the internationally renowned award-winning documentary series Al-Nakba. Rawan worked as a senior commissioning producer at Al Jazeera Media Network for 10 years (2006 – 2016), commissioning 250 hours of documentaries and investigations. She holds an MA (with Distinction) in Communications Studies from Leeds University, UK, 2003. She received the Media Creativity Award by the Arab Thought Foundation in Beirut, 2015.

Mohammed Al-Maskati

Mohammed Al-Maskati is a Bahraini human rights activist and digital Protection coordinator with Front Line Defenders for Middle East and North Africa. He is the founder of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights (BYSHR), a leading group in the 2011-2012 Bahraini uprising.He spent 17 years defending human rights in Bahrain, the Middle East and North Africa.He was nominated and shortlisted for the Freedom of Opinion and Expression Award by Index on Censorship and He won the Human Rights heroes Award 2018 by Access Now.Member of the Advisory Board Open Technology Fund.

Mounir Kleibo

“Mounir Kleibo was born and raised in the Holy City of Jerusalem. He offers over 35 years of experience in higher education administration and leadership, good governance, social cohesion and human resource mobilization. A highly qualified management executive and pioneer in advocating transparency and corporate social responsibility, accountability and social inclusion along with social justice in Palestine. Mounir Kleibo concentrated on productivity enhancement, institution building and human capacity development as head of the UNDP/PAPP Governance and Public Sector unit. He stood out as the architect of the renowned Transfer of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals Programme (TOKTEN) in Palestine and the region (1994-2008) Mr Mounir Kleibo headed the team who produced “Palestine: A Guidebook” back in 2004 Mr. Kleibo became the Representative of the International Labour Organization in the occupied Palestinian territories since 2008 to date. He sees the ILO as absolutely central to the questions of the day: promoting decent work, enhancing social protection and social security, the fight against poverty, and equality for all. Additionally, he sits on a number of advisory boards for education reform, civil society advancement, cultural heritage advancement and human development.”

Saleh Hejazi

Mohammed Abu-Jamous

Has a Master of Information Technology from the Islamic University of Gaza in the field of artificial intelligence and computerized vision, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from An-Najah National University, Nablus. He is the Director of software development at Nebras Media and Information Technology. Computer systems and networks supervisor at the Islamic University of Gaza. Previously, he worked as an engineer for networks and systems at the Palestine Exchange. He worked as a trainer for many courses in the areas of networks, systems and information security. He conducted courses for engineers of companies providing Internet services for the new generation IPv6 networks, courses for mobile company engineers and Gaza Electricity Distribution Company. He is an expert in the field of Internet and computer networks.

Samir Zaqout

“Samir Zaqout is the Program Director of the Gaza-based Al Mezan Center for Human Rights. He joined Al Mezan upon its establishment in 1999 as the Fieldwork Coordinator and lead a team in charge of monitoring and documentation of human rights violations in the Gaza Strip. During his time at this post, he met and provided evidence-backed field data for numerous UN-baked missions of inquiry mandated to investigate grave violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, including a mission led-by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and another led by Mr. Richard Goldstone. After 2014 Gaza war, he led a team of over 50 fieldworkers in a joint documentation campaign with three other Palestinian human rights organizations; information and evidence collected in the joint campaign formed the basis for a joint submission to the International Criminal Court on alleged Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity in the following year. Mr. Zaqout also conducted many trainings to pass his expertise to other human rights defenders outside Gaza, including coaching for Amnesty International and OMCT. Since 2018, he has been serving as the Program Director as well as the Deputy Director of Al Mezan Center for Human Rights. Mr. Zaqout holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Al Quds University, is married and has five children.”

Elia Aby Gharbeih

Elia Gharbieh is a Palestinian journalist, who currently works as a producer for AJ + platform for Al-Jazeera Media Network in Qatar. She worked for several years as an independent producer and journalist in the audio-visual and written media in Palestine. She graduated from Birzeit University in 2014 and studied media and political science. Elia has worked as a reporter, producer, and photographer, and has produced many stories, reports and short films that were aired through AJ +, Al Jazeera, BBC, Middle East Eye, ZoomIn.tv among others. Elia also worked as a primary producer for many documentaries for international channels, in addition to her work in media coordination and participation in local and international conferences. She is very passionate about human stories, new emerging platforms, and storytelling in creative ways that will change the future of the media, such as virtual reality technologies and innovative narrative storytelling.

Dalia Shurrab

Dalia used to be a teacher, trainer, educational researcher and manager. Her first introduction to startups was when she worked with Wasselni, one of Gaza’s first funded startups, as a social media marketer. Dalia quickly fell in love with the spirit of entrepreneurism and first joined GSG as a volunteer social media and logistics member. She is currently the Palestine Chapter President of Arab WIC and an Ambassador of WiD in Palestine. She graduated from the Islamic University of Gaza with a BS in Physics and obtained an Education Diploma and a Media Diploma, along with courses in Business Administration. Dalia was chosen to represent Palestinian entrepreneurs at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi in 2015. At age 12, Dalia was the English-speaking spokes-child of Palestinian children and represented all Palestinians in front of the Women and Children Minister of Norway.

Nour Swirki, is a Palestinian feminist, journalist and human rights defender. Has the MA degree of journalism and worked in that field for many years focusing on women and gender issues until she found a new challenge by working as a human rights associate in the office of high commissioner for human rights Gaza sub office. Recently she moved to work in Center for Women’s Legal research and Consulting and protection, a women organization providing services and protection to the GBV survivors in Gaza Strip. Heba Al Abadlah

She worked in a group of radios and editorial boards since 2011 such as Palestine Youth Radio, Voice of Al Watan, and the Voice of Al-Azhar. She also worked as the head of the University Initiative “From You and To You”. She trained with a Falaystiniat Foundation in the field of debates for the debates league held by the Foundation for university students, and she works as director of the Public Relations Department in Panorama Integrated Services Company.

Nadim Nashif

Nadim Nashif is a Social Entrepreneur & Digital Rights Defender, Executive Director and Co-Founder of 7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media (Palestine), Co-Founder of Wusul Digital Academy a digital marketing School. He is a committed Digital Rights Defender and community organizer. He has worked on youth and community development issues for the past 20 years. In 2013, he co-founded 7amleh – The Arab Center for Social Media, which is focused on strengthening Palestinian’s ability to use social media and digital activism tools to defend human rights online.

Sari Taha

Sari Taha is a Palestinian engineer and entrepreneur from Jerusalem. He is very active in advancing the Palestinian entrepreneurial ecosystem and volunteers a lot of his time in mentoring promising entrepreneurs and advising projects with strategic values. He was a co-founder of a Canadian renewable energy startup. He also worked as an Investment analyst in a venture capital fund called Takwin labs based in Haifa city. For the past two years he was the program manager of Rawabi Tech Hub. in 2018, he joined the co-founding team of Doroob Technologies; a Palestinian startup that specializes in navigation and location-based solutions. Also, he recently also started working as an entrepreneurship consultant with The World Bank Group. Sari is a connector and campaigner by nature who alternates between getting work done on a grassroots level while keeping an eye on the big picture and global developmental and technology trends. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Birzeit University and he earned his MBA from the Technion Institute of Technology.

Soheir Asaad

Soheir Asaad is International Advocacy Coordinator in Adalah. She is a lawyer and has an LL.M. degree with honors from the Center for Civil & Human Rights at the University of Notre Dame (US), with a focus on international human rights law. Soheir also holds an LL.B. from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She is a Fulbright scholar and, with a scholarship from Notre Dame’s Center for Civil & Human Rights, Soheir worked as a research fellow at the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies in Tunisia. She has also worked previously as parliamentary advisor to Parliament Member Haneen Zoabi, focusing on the rights of Palestinian women. Soheir is also a Palestinian political and feminist activist.

Sam Bahour

Sam Bahour is a Palestinian-American based in Al-Bireh-Ramallah, Palestine; he is a managing partner of the Applied Information Management (AIM). Bahour serves as a co-founder and chairman of Americans for a Vibrant Palestinian Economy and a board member and policy adviser at Al-Shabaka, the Palestinian Policy Network. He frequently writes on Palestinian affairs and is the co-editor of HOMELAND: Oral History of Palestine and Palestinians. Bahour is also a blogger at epalestine.com.

Shahed Al Hindi

Shahed Al Hindi is a Public Policy Manager at Facebook, with a focus on human rights in MENA. Shahed works on a variety of issues including content, safety, freedom of expression and hate speech. She regularly meets with stakeholders in region to develop more inclusive policies, in line with the basic principles of human rights. Additionally, she works closely with civil society organisations in conflict zones to ensure these voices are heard, represented and to help build a safer platform. Shahed received her Bachelor of Law with Honours from Kingston University, London, specialising in International Public, Criminal and Human Rights Law and obtained her Master of Laws in International Financial Law from Kings’ College University.
