Fifth Panel: Digital rights Challenges in the Gaza Strip

Palestinians in general face challenges to their digital rights, while these challenges are further complicated when it comes to the Gaza Strip, which suffers a suffocating blockade since 2006. This is reflected into difficulties and challenges in this space related to economic, social and political life, and this is why the Palestine Digital Activism Forum devotes this digital (Virtual) session to discuss the challenges of the digital economy facing Gazans, digital gender violence such as cyber harassment and bullying, and finally online information security.

Reem Abu-Hassira
Reem Abu-Hassira is a Palestinian journalist from Gaza City. She is a presenter and host of radio, television and radio programs. She is a university lecturer at the Islamic University and the University College. She is a trainer in media. She holds a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Islamic University.

Mohammed Abu-Jamous
Has a Master of Information Technology from the Islamic University of Gaza in the field of artificial intelligence and computerized vision, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from An-Najah National University, Nablus. He is the Director of software development at Nebras Media and Information Technology. Computer systems and networks supervisor at the Islamic University of Gaza. Previously, he worked as an engineer for networks and systems at the Palestine Exchange. He worked as a trainer for many courses in the areas of networks, systems and information security. He conducted courses for engineers of companies providing Internet services for the new generation IPv6 networks, courses for mobile company engineers and Gaza Electricity Distribution Company. He is an expert in the field of Internet and computer networks.
Saadi Hamd
Specialized in building digital marketing strategies, a field consultant for projects, businesses and companies in the Middle East, and a coach in the promotional content and social media marketing industry for more than 6 years. He runs Ditor Digital Solutions with a diverse team of skilled staff. He has worked in radio and television for more than 8 years and has experience in TV presenting, program planning and preparation. He has a passion and interest in technology and digital analysis and participated in many local and international conferences in the field of media, innovation and technology.
Nour Swirki
Nour Swirki, is a Palestinian feminist, journalist and human rights defender. Has the MA degree of journalism and worked in that field for many years focusing on women and gender issues until she found a new challenge by working as a human rights associate in the office of high commissioner for human rights Gaza sub office. Recently she moved to work in Center for Women’s Legal research and Consulting and protection, a women organization providing services and protection to the GBV survivors in Gaza Strip.
